KINGPIN
AI STATEMENT: AI-generated imagery was an academic requirement for this project. All character and asset illustrations are my own work.
This work is only a concept, and is not meant to be commercial. AI generation was required as a part of this project for placeholder graphics and inspiration. If this concept were commercial, all AI-generated imagery would be replaced with original illustrations.
I strongly believe AI generative tools should ethically source their training materials, creators should be compensated for their work being used for these tools, and AI-generated images should never be used commercially.

I no longer use AI-generated imagery in my creative process unless required by academic standards.
KINGPIN is a last-man-standing board game inspired by the 1920's Art Deco aesthetic for 2-6 players, ages 16+. You and your friends compete as mafia bosses for control of the city.
With a unique gameplay each play using varying character perks, module and movable boards, and random events, players are challenged to think quick in order to achieve victory.

BUILDING THE PLAYER

The main focus of the character design was to create characters that are enjoyable, recognizable, and unique.
Players have different advantages depending on which character they choose to start with, and will challenge the player to strategize. Each character offers unique challenges so each replay of the game is different.

BUILDING THE THEME
Icons for actions, items, etc. were to be uniform and fit the Art Deco aesthetic from the 1920's. Golds and blues fit the darker, fancier and sophisticated atmosphere of this fictional city.

The created samples of board icons, card icons, and board spaces are examples of how the elements will be fully illustrated.
The most important parts of this design process were less about the mechanics, and rather to show samples of what assets I am capable of making for projects such as this. I wanted this project to show my proficiency with software such as Adobe Fresco/Photoshop/Illustrator, and Autodesk Sketchbook/Fusion360.
